What Are CBD Gummies?
Let's start with the basics. (This article will cover gummies infused with CBD from hemp, not marijuana. Do make sure whatever gummies you get are the type you want. These gummies from hemp are legal in all 50 United States because they are naturally low in THC, below 0.3% content, and therefore, do not cause any psychoactive high.) CBD gummies are tasty treats infused with cannabidiol (CBD), a compound derived from the hemp plant. They come in various types and flavors and various strengths of CBD, making them a delightful and convenient way to consume cannabidiol. But what makes CBD so special?
CBD, Stress, and the Endocannabinoid System
CBD interacts with the body's endocannabinoid system (ECS), a complex network responsible for regulating various physiological processes, including stress response. By stimulating the ECS, CBD can help restore balance and promote overall well-being. For many people, it's like having a chill pill in gummy form!
The Popularity of CBD Gummies
CBD gummies have taken the wellness world by storm, and for good reason. People are drawn to their simplicity and discretion. Plus, unlike its cousin THC, CBD doesn't cause psychoactive effects, so you can enjoy the stress relief without getting "baked." It's a win-win situation!
The Science Behind CBD and Stress Relief
Let's dive deeper into the scientific side of things. Studies have shown that CBD can impact neurotransmitters and hormones related to stress. By modulating their activity, CBD may promote relaxation, reduce anxiety symptoms, and help manage stress-induced insomnia. It's like a serene vacation in gummy form!
Real Studies on CBD and Stress Relief
Don't just take our word for it—let the studies speak! We'll explore noteworthy scientific research that demonstrates CBD's stress-relieving effects. Choosing Quality CBD Gummies for Stress Relief
When it comes to CBD products, quality matters. We'll guide you through the
process of selecting the best CBD gummies for stress relief. From sourcing CBD from reputable brands to considering factors like serving amount and transparency, we want to ensure you find the perfect gummies that suit your needs.
Things to consider are: A) Type of hemp extract; B) Amount of CBD per gummy or "strength"; C) Overall ingredient list; and, D) Brand.
Hemp Extract Types
There are 3 basic types of hemp extract which is what contains the CBD. First, we have: Full Spectrum Hemp Extract, which is the type that has ALL of the cannabinoids, phytonutrients, terpenes, etc naturally found in the plant. And, yes, even a touch of THC, but again, this must be below 0.3%, too low to cause a high. This is considered the best type of extract by most people as all of the nutrients work together and multiply the effect of each other. The CBD effect is multiplied by the terpenes effect which is multiplied by the phytonutrients which is multiplied by the CBG, CBGN, THC and so on. Most people find it to be the most effective.
Next, we have Broad Spectrum Hemp Extract which usually has all but THC. The THC is processed out. This is similar to Full Spectrum, but has additional processing done to it, which most people consider a step down in quality. And, it loses the full "multiplication" effect we discussed above. By the way, this "multiplication" effect is referred to as Entourage Effect or Synergistic Effect.
Finally, we have what is called CBD Isolate. This is not really even extract. This is only the CBD compound processed out of the extract. So, all of the other naturally occurring compounds are not present. This is usually used by the least expensive brands and is considered a "cheap quality product" throughout the industry. Note: Some brands use CBD Isolate in addition to the hemp extract to increase the overall amount of CBD within the product. Since this product would have all the full spectrum of cannabinoids along with an increase in CBD, this is generally considered a step up in quality.
Amount of CBD per Gummy
Gummies typically range from 5mg of cannabidiol per gummy to as high as 30mg. Some even go up to 50mg, but these are usually just CBD Isolate, which we covered in the previous paragraph. Most people find that 10-25mg per serving is idea. For best value, many will purchase something like a 20mg gummy, but eat only half of it at a time so that they're getting 10mg of CBD per serving. Halving it or Quartering them is common.
Overall Ingredient List of Gummies
Be sure to read the ingredient list of the gummies. Just like with most products these days, you'll find everything from 'not very good or healthy' ingredients to either mostly natural or all natural. And, some will even be certified organic. It is my opinion that insisting on "Organically Grown Hemp, Grown in the U.S." for the CBD is critical. Everything else is at your discretion. I insist on organically grown hemp in my products because a lot of hemp is grown in Eastern Europe and China. Extract is then removed and sold on the open market around the world. Companies or brands that use this type of extract really can't tell you how the hemp is grown or even where it was grown.
Hemp is known to be a soil purifier in that it takes an area of land that is toxic and can clean it up by pulling all these toxins out of the ground and, of course, into the plant. Most of your better brands are now only using Organically Grown Hemp from the U.S., but many cheaper brands are not. So, DO BE SURE to check on this.
So, let's face it, many products in our lives don't really matter how well they're made or what they're made from. We buy the item cheaply. We may not need it again. It breaks. Who cares?
But, CBD Gummies are for our well-being and that of our loved ones. The ingredients matter. The hemp source matters. The type of hemp extract matters. And, so does the brand. Here are some things to look for.
Look for a brand that uses CO2 extraction method for how they remove the extract from the hemp. This is the most expensive way of doing it. But, it also creates the least damaged molecules and cleanest, purest extract for you and your loved ones.
Again, look for a brand that uses only extract from hemp grown organically in the U.S.
And, look for a brand that's been around a while, that has good reviews and ships quick. What you don't want to end up buying from is a company that might just be a U.S. shell company with operations in China that may cause your shipment to take weeks to arrive. Typically, the better known U.S. brands are easy to find with a little work. Once you see they're U.S. based, check out for Full Spectrum Extract, Organically Grown in US Hemp, CO2 extraction methods and quick shipping. These variables usually indicate a higher quality U.S. brand.
And, don't, whatever you do, go with the cheapest CBD Gummies you can find. As we talk with people what say "CBD doesn't work", we oftentimes find they went with the cheapest they could find.
